Since 2019, and thanks to the support from the European Commission, OpenNebula Systems has been leading the edge computing innovation in Europe, investing heavily in research and open source development, and playing a key role in strategic EU initiatives such as the IPCEI-CIS and the “European Alliance for Industrial Data, Edge and Cloud”.
We are currently seeking a Cloud-Edge Solutions Documentation Technical Advisor (Contractor) to join our IPCEI-CIS project as part of our new team developing the next-generation management platform for the Cloud-Edge Computing Continuum. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge initiative, shaping the future of cloud-edge interoperability, AI integration, and next-gen infrastructure management.
Objective
We are looking for an experienced Documentation Advisor to support and guide the project team in the coordination, production, and improvement of technical documentation across a range of cloud and edge computing use cases. Your role will be to offer specialist advice, ensure best practices are followed, and assist with the delivery of high-quality documentation aligned with the principles of Open Source, the Diátaxis documentation framework, and the needs of both users and stakeholders.
You will work closely with software engineers, product owners, community contributors, and project managers, helping them to structure, review, and enhance the documentation deliverables across IPCEI-CIS’s ecosystems.
Scope
Activities in WP4 Deployment of Distributed Intelligence Use Cases of IPCEI-CIS ONEnextgen Project (UNICO IPCEI-2023-003)
Services
- Provide expert guidance and support to the internal team on managing the lifecycle of technical documentation, ensuring consistency and alignment with development milestones.
- Advise and support the creation of Release Notes for new ONEnextgen versions in coordination with the development team.
- Assist in the structuring and revision of Tutorials, User Guides, and White Papers to improve clarity and user experience.
- Collaborate with the Content & Community team by reviewing and advising on White Paper production, ensuring consistency and quality across contributions.
- Support the technical team in improving Knowledge Base articles, bringing external best practices into internal workflows.
- Help project teams with the edition and preparation of deliverables.
- Promote documentation best practices across the company and offer targeted advice to standardize structure, language, and tone across technical content.
- Contribute to community engagement efforts by supporting the coordination of localization initiatives and quality assurance.
Duration
From 1st August 2025 to 30th June 2026 (11 months)

Remote (occasionally F2F coordination meetings)
Budget
Maximum hourly rate is 35 euros
Maximum work hours per year is 1.800
The maximum estimated cost is 5.250 euros per month, and a total of 57.750 euros.
Technical Specifications
Contractors must demonstrate the following requirements:
- +5 years of hands-on experience in the specific area
Evaluation Criteria
Eligible contractors will be prioritized according to the following criteria:
- Price: Cost per hour
- Education: Bachelor, Master or PhD in Computer Science
- Additional Experience: Total number of years of additional experience (beyond the required minimum)
Administrative Specifications
Before the signature of the contract, the successful selected contractor will be requested to provide the following certificates:
- Positive certificate, issued by the local Social Security Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its Social Security obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established
- Positive certificate, issued by the local Tax Authority, to the effect that the contractor is up-to-date in compliance with its tax obligations; or similar document according to the the law of the country in which the contractor is established
The successful selected contractor will be given a two weeks period after the notification of the award to provide the above-mentioned documents.
