Position Description
We currently have a great opportunity for a Fluidics Engineer to join the Material Science and Fluidics Team within the Product Excellence Integrated Assays Department. The Material Science and Fluidics Team plays a key role in improving the microfluidic workflow and designing high-precision plastic components used in this system.
In this role, you will improve current products, support the development of new diagnostic panels, and solve technical challenges related to microfluidics and component design. You will collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing in a regulated, ISO 13485-compliant environment.
This is a 100% onsite based role (with flexibility to work from home if needed).
Key responsabilities:
- Lead or support projects in product development, continuous improvement, and innovation related to the QIAstat-Dx microfluidic workflow.
- Apply your microfluidics knowledge to enhance performance and reliability of diagnostic products.
- Design, plan, and execute experiments; analyze data; and deliver actionable insights to guide decision-making.
- Identify and troubleshoot technical and quality-related issues in microfluidic systems; implement robust, design-based solutions.
- Take ownership of strategic projects that drive technological advancement across the QIAstat-Dx platform.
- Collaborate with quality and manufacturing teams to resolve deviations and manage special release requests, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Contribute to the design, validation, and continuous improvement of injection-molded plastic parts used in diagnostic consumables.
- Work with cross-functional teams to develop, scale, and optimize molecular diagnostic solutions.
Position Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (e.g. Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biotechnology, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Physics, or a related field).- MSc or MEng in a relevant field (desirable).
- Proven hands-on experience in fluidics or microfluidics, with a solid track record in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.
- Advanced analytical, documentation, and reporting skills within regulated environments such as ISO 13485 and IVD settings.
- Excellent abilities in project coordination, cross-functional collaboration, and self-management.
- Fluent level of Spanish and English, with effective communication skills in both written and spoken form.
