Global Environmental Manager

Open opportunity: Global Environmental Manager
The selected professional will lead the global environmental strategy by developing policies, ensuring regulatory alignment, and overseeing implementation across all project phases. This person will act as the key liaison for environmental matters, driving compliance, performance, and continuous improvement.
What will you do?
- Lead the review and development of global environmental policies and procedures (e.g., Environmental Protection Policy, Environmental Management Procedures).
- Ensure alignment with CSRD and other evolving ESG reporting requirements.
- Coordinate with ESG, legal, and procurement teams to embed environmental requirements in company standards and EPC contracts.
- Provide oversight and guidance for environmental coordination on projects in development, construction, and operation.
- Monitor implementation of environmental and compensatory measures, such as vegetation screens, fauna monitoring, and agro-environmental actions.
- Review environmental documentation (e.g., PVA, IPS, Restoration Plans, Fire Prevention Plans) and ensure timely delivery of reports to stakeholders.
- Support the tendering and contracting process for environmental services and monitoring campaigns.
- Follow up on environmental budget allocations, procurement planning, and contractor performance.
- Supervise the onboarding and performance of local environmental coordinators, including in new markets such as Italy and Australia.
- Lead methodology development for environmental risk and impact assessments globally.
- Ensure proper risk identification and mitigation during permitting and project execution phases.
- Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Construction, O&M) to manage environmental permitting, incident response, and inspections.
- Maintain consolidated reporting of environmental KPIs and performance by region.
- Represent the environmental discipline in internal meetings and with external stakeholders (authorities, partners, communities).
- Coordinate updates and training on environmental compliance for internal teams and contractors.
- Ensure Integration of Environmental Processes within the IMS.
- Align all environmental procedures, documentation, and controls with the company’s Integrated Management System (covering ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, etc.) to ensure consistency, compliance, and continuous improvement across regions and project phases.
- Lead Internal Audits and Management Reviews for Environmental Aspects
- Coordinate and participate in internal audits and management reviews related to environmental performance, ensuring proper identification of non-conformities, follow-up of corrective actions, and contribution to system-wide improvements.
What do we need?
- Minimum 5 years of experience in environmental management for infrastructure or energy projects, ideally renewables PV and BESS.
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or similar.
- Desirable: familiarity with CSRD, ESG frameworks, and biodiversity offsetting measures.
- Strong understanding of European and international environmental regulations and permitting.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and environmental contractors.
- Strong communication and reporting skills in English and Spanish (additional languages such as Italian are a plus).
- Availability to travel internationally when required.
