The company, based in Madrid (Spain), is seeking a full-time Senior Consultant - Energy Markets to play a key role in developing innovative energy projects across the globe.
Job Description
You will be working with our diverse team of international energy sector consultants and professional staff in the areas/tasks listed below:
Provide strategic and analytical advice to clients on power and gas markets, investment decisions, and energy sector business models.
Conduct long-term energy market assessments, economic analyses, and asset valuations for due diligence and project development.
Effectively convey complex messages and organize presentations to maximize information impact for diverse audiences, particularly in Spanish and English.
Serve as a key resource on wholesale, balancing and ancillary markets, demand-side flexibility, and commercial due diligence.
Perform market assessments, demand-supply analysis, and price forecasting.
Actively participate in the growth and expansion of our services by identifying market opportunities and writing winning proposals.
Qualifications
Required Experience & Knowledge:
5-10 years' experience in energy market analysis and/or long-term market modeling.
In-depth understanding of wholesale energy markets (including day ahead, balancing and ancillary service markets), with practical knowledge of the Spanish and European energy markets.
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; experience managing multiple projects to meet budgets and deadlines.
Prior experience with capacity expansion or production cost modeling tools (i.e., PLEXOS or similar) is a plus.
Excellent written and spoken English (knowledge of an additional knowledge is an advantage).
Self-motivated, proactive, with a solution-oriented mindset and high personal integrity.
Availability and willingness to travel to international client sites.
Qualifications:
MSc or equivalent degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Economics); post graduate courses in Corporate Financing is a plus.
Deep understanding of energy markets, including regulatory frameworks, pricing, and modeling techniques.
Proficiency in energy market simulation and data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Power BI).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in or knowledge of energy transition issues, such as renewable energy integration, decarbonization, and digitalization, is a significant advantage.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
