What does a great Senior Software Development Engineer I do?
As a Senior Software Development Engineer I, you will lead the charge in delivering high-quality software solutions that meet user needs and business goals. In this role you will be building a modern web point of sale for travel agents using the latest cloud technologies. You will define the technical vision and guide development teams in adopting the right technologies and best practices—both for immediate delivery and long-term scalability. Beyond coding, you will play a key role in shaping product development strategy and driving DevOps adoption to streamline the entire development lifecycle. Your mission will be to empower teams to build better software, faster, and with greater confidence.
Responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, integrate, deliver and maintain Javascript components and Cloud Services in an agile, cybersecure and test driven development environment following best Code and Integration / Continuous Delivery practices in a Cloud based - Microservices architected application
- Contribute to establishment and enforcement of standards and best practices by performing frequent code reviews amongst the team. Contribute to the success of the team by embracing and promoting a winning culture and environment, based on proactivity, flexibility and team spirit
- Collaborate with key stakeholders (Quality, Architecture, Security, Product Management) and contribute to identity the optimal technical approach and contribute to the full solution design. Collaborate on features sizing, story refinement and planning
- Participate in release activities and deployments. Embrace “You build it, you own it” culture.
Who we are looking for in this role:
- Educated to HNC/Degree level in Computer Science, Engineering, math, or a numerate discipline or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in software development, using the following technologies:
- Relentless about quality and embracing a culture of continuous delivery, understanding Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices.
- Strong analytical skills; Ability to collect, organize data; summarize findings and develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Superb interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Javascript (ECMA6), design patterns and concepts such as scope, closures and prototypal inheritance
- React, Babel, Redux, NodeJS
- HTML5/CSS
- RESTful APIs, XML, SOAP, REST, GraphQL and other Web Services technologies
- Docker, Kubernetes
- Typescript/Javascript/React Testing libraries and integration test frameworks
