GAC is currently recruiting for a fulltime proactive and experienced Shipping Agency Manager, to lead our operations at the port of Las Palmas, Canary Islands, one of the most strategic ports in the Atlantic. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of vessel agency services, ensuring efficient port calls, regulatory compliance, and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all port agency operations for vessels calling at Las Palmas.
Coordinate with port authorities, customs, immigration, and other stakeholders.
Supervise and support a team of shipping agents and administrative staff.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation for vessel arrivals, departures, and cargo handling.
Maintain strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, and local service providers.
Monitor operational KPIs, budgets, and cost control measures.
Ensure compliance with Spanish maritime regulations and international standards.
Manage emergency situations and resolve operational challenges effectively.
Provide regular reports to senior management and contribute to strategic planning.
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or Business Administration.
Minimum 5 years of experience in shipping agency operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
In-depth knowledge of port operations in Spain, especially in the Canary Islands.
Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken).
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in port community systems and shipping software.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the Port of Las Palmas’ operational procedures.
Experience with offshore support vessels, bunkering operations, or transhipment logistics.
Additional languages (e.g., French or Portuguese) are a plus.
