VHIR is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join the teaching staff of the Master in Translational Biomedical Research.

JOB DESCRIPTION
VHIR associate professors are involved in teaching activities, academic coordination, student’s evaluation and mentoring tasks. Professors are also responsible for designing teaching contents and materials, learning methodologies and evaluation methods ensuring quality standards and the acquisition of the required knowledge and expected skills by the students.

In particular, we are offering 1 position for an experienced researcher and professor in the field of Liver Diseases.

Please note: This position is offered under a service agreement. It does not constitute an employment or labour contract.


Education and qualifications:

Required:
  • Hold a PhD in a field related to the subject they teach. If not, candidates with postgraduate studies and a minimum proved experience of 8 years in the field that they teach can also be considered
  • Fluent in Catalan, Spanish and English.


Experience and knowledge:
Required:
  • At least 5 years of proven experience as lecturer or professor in graduate and/or postgraduate courses at the University or equivalent high education institutions.
  • Be employed at Campus Vall d’Hebron.

Main responsibilities and duties:
  • Contribute to the development of the curriculum and syllabus of the master programme.
  • Give lectures.
  • Invite and supervise lessons of invited lecturers.
  • Supervise contents and teaching materials of their lessons and ensure they are available for the students.
  • Participate in the design of the exams and other evaluation tests, as well as in their development and the assessment of their results.
  • Mentor between 2 and 4 Master’s students per year.
  • Participate in academic coordination meetings and give support to the Module’s Coordinator.
  • Take part as evaluator in the Master’s Thesis Evaluation Committees.
  • Take part in the teaching quality evaluation survey.
Evaluation Criteria:

Applicants shall demonstrate a proven research and teaching capacity. All applicants’ research, teaching merits to date, abilities in research management and administration, as well as other general merits will be assessed. The assessment criteria are as follows:

Professional experience (40%)
  • Have a postdoctoral research experience of more than three years. Have a competitive research contract
(Miguel Servet, Joan Rodés or Río Ortega) will be specially considered. Candidates with no scientific
career, must demonstrate aproximately five years of experience in the subject they teach
  • Clinical experience and/or involvement in clinical research.
  • Publications and transfer of research results
  • Hold a PI position
  • Foreign experience
  • Technology transfer, patents, utility models Training activity (40%)
  • Demonstrable skill and experience.
  • Involvement in the teaching of graduate and/or postgraduate courses. Previous teaching experience in
the Master in Translational Biomedical Research will be specially considered.
  • Experience in the supervision and follow-up of Master and Doctorate students.
  • Experience in the assessment of Master’s Degree Final Projects and Doctoral Thesis.
  • Previous experience in academic coordination and teaching management tasks.
  • Proven accreditation of tenure-track lecturer, research or advanced research by AQU (or the equivalent accreditations by ANECA).
  • Knowledge of the Catalan University System and general understanding of teaching quality processes and policies.

  • Strong leadership and hands on attitude that emphasizes the importance of teamwork and encourages individuals to learn and grow.

Conditions:

  • Part-time position: 20-30hours/year approximately.
  • Starting date: October 2025
  • Service Agreement Length: 4 academic courses (renewable annually)
