At Medtronic you can begin a life-long career of exploration and innovation, while helping champion healthcare access and equity for all. You’ll lead with purpose, breaking down barriers to innovation in a more connected, compassionate world.

A Day in the Life

We are seeking a Business Development Leader to drive strategic partnerships and transformation initiatives within the Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) Unit of Medtronic within the areas of Catalonia and Valencia in Spain. This role is instrumental in positioning Medtronic as a trusted partner for regional health authorities and strategic healthcare accounts, leveraging our full range of capabilities to drive meaningful change in healthcare delivery.

Our Mandate in EA & IHS is to establish Medtronic as the preferred partner for healthcare transformation and build long-term relationships with our top accounts. As a team, we achieve this by partnering with top-tier healthcare providers committed to transformation, securing executive sponsorship and engaging the C-Suite.
Our unique selling point is that within our team we have access to Medtronic’s full breadth of technology and assets to deliver a comprehensive and unbeatable value proposition to our customers, being able to create holistic, integrated healthcare offerings beyond individual products, structuring innovative contracting models that drive long-term success.

Main Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Engagement with Regional Health Authorities: Proactively understand the key needs and challenges within the healthcare ecosystem and position Medtronic as a valuable strategic partner in their transformation agendas.
  • Partnership Development with Strategic Accounts: Collaborate with major hospitals and healthcare providers, aligning Medtronic’s transformational offerings with their long-term objectives and regional authority expectations.
  • C-Suite Engagement & Influence: In coordination with the Strategic Account Managers, lead high-level discussions with executive leadership (CEOs, COOs, CMOs, CIOs, etc.) to shape and sell integrated healthcare solutions that drive operational, clinical, and financial value.
  • Solution Architecture & Sales: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including Strategic Account Managers and cross-functional teams, to design, articulate, and deliver high-impact, tailored healthcare solutions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Medtronic’s over 20 operating units and functional teams, leveraging the full breath of our portfolio, knowledge and experience, to ensure seamless solution development, integration, and execution.
  • Smart Contracting & Value-Based Agreements: You will structure long-term, for Medtronic and our customer mutually beneficial agreements that drive sustained impact.
  • Represent Medtronic in front of public authorities and relevant institutions: Be the spokesperson for Medtronic in events and also support the OU’s in front of public authorities.

Must Have Experience & Key Capabilities

  • Master’s degree in business, medicine, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in business development, strategic sales, consultative solution selling within the healthcare sector, or experience in hospital/healthcare C-suite management positions.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare practice, healthcare market trends, regulatory factors, and competitive landscape.
  • Consulting or Medical background with strategic thinking and analytical skills to navigate complex business and matrix environments.
  • Proven ability to build strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including C-Suite executives.
  • Proven track-record in customer-Centric Solution Selling: Strong consultative sales acumen, with the ability to move beyond transactional product sales to business outcome-driven engagements.
  • Experience leading impactful transformational initiatives that respond to key challenges of healthcare leaders, with demonstrated measurable impact while having demonstrated showing adaptability and resilience in the project life cycle.
  • Team player – Collaborates effectively with colleagues, communicates openly, support team goals and contributes to a positive work environment. Prioritizes collective success over personal achievement.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills to drive strategic initiatives.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required, as well as understanding Catalan (speaking is preferred); additional languages are a plus.
  • Travel requirement: Minimum 40% within Spain, focus on Catalonia and Valencia, with additional travel within Europe as needed.

This is an opportunity for a high-performing individual who thrives in a fast-paced, transformational environment. If you meet these expectations and are ready to make a significant impact in healthcare, we invite you to join us in shaping the future of Medtronic’s EA&IHS organization.
