Role Overview
We are seeking experienced and enthusiastic EAP Tutors to deliver high-quality English for Academic Purposes instruction to international students preparing for university study in English-medium institutions. The role is based in Madrid and will support both sessional and pre-sessional programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Deliver engaging and academically focused EAP lessons to prepare students for university-level study
- Teach academic skills including academic writing, reading, seminar participation, critical thinking, presentations, and referencing
- Ensure students reach the required level of academic English and literacy (aligned with CEFR / IELTS benchmarks)
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of diverse learners
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
- Design, administer, and mark assessments including written assignments, presentations, and exams
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students on their progress
- Participate in assessment moderation and results standardisation as required
Programme Delivery Support
- Collaborate with academic colleagues and coordinators to ensure consistency and quality in programme delivery
- Attend induction, team meetings, and CPD sessions as scheduled
- Maintain accurate student records, including attendance and assessment outcomes
Person Specification
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree and TEFLQ status (e.g., DELTA, MA TESOL, or equivalent)
- Experience teaching EAP in a pre-sessional or university preparatory context
- Strong understanding of academic conventions and university-level expectations
- Ability to teach in a fast-paced, intensive academic environment
- Right to work in Spain
Desirable:
- Previous experience in delivering pre-sessional or sessional EAP programmes in the UK or EU
- Familiarity with digital learning tools and virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle)
- Experience supporting international students in an academic transition context
Job Type: Part-time
Expected hours: No less than 16.25 per week
