Job Description
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer specialized on the design and calculations of the Grounding and Bonding system, the Stray Currents control and mitigation and the lightning protection system in a railway project.
AECOM EC Rail Systems team in Madrid has vast experience of designing all railways systems in many projects throughout the world. Inside the Power system team, there is a lot of experience in designing the grounding & bonding and lightning protection systems for the equipment and facilities in a railway project. That includes projects in Canada, Middle East and South America.
Due to the high work demand on these disciplines, we are looking for an electrical engineer with experience in designing these systems in railway projects, including stray currents control for DC railway systems.
Here is what you will do:
To do or participate in the development of plans and guidelines for G&B, Stray Currents and Lightning protection systems.
To do or participate in the development of the interfaces with the different project disciplines (power systems, civil structures, track, etc).
To do or participate in the development of the design documentation needed for the definition of the system in every stage of the project. That includes design reports, calculations, drawings, specifications.
To coordinate and attend meetings with the client or other parties for the defense and justification of the design.
To coordinate with construction on the technical issues that could appear from site.
Develop electrical calculations that could justify that the design is safe.
Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
7+ years of experience.
At least 5 years of experience in railway systems projects.
At least 3 years of experience on G&B, Lightning protection or Stray currents design.
Experience with CENELEC, Canadian and American standards (NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, AREMA, CSA).
Clear domain of English language.
Experience on the use of ETAP software for G&B and Lightning protection design. The knowledge of other software could be also considered.
It would be also highly valuable:
EMC control and management knowledge.
Other type of experience or knowledge on railway power system.
Experience on site.
Experience in system safety activities (RAMS).
Experience in managing a project team under his/her supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MSc in Electrical or chemical engineering.
- Licensed Engineer in the US, Canada, UK or Australia will be valued positively.
