About the role…
This is a hybrid role, based in Barcelona. Happy Scribe is office-first, remote-friendly. In other words, we aim to spend about 80% of our time collaborating in person.
As our Finance Operations Manager, you will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations at Happy Scribe, from billing and expenses to budgeting and compliance. You’ll work closely with our internal team, suppliers and accounting partners to keep our operations running smoothly while driving improvements through smarter tools and automation.
What you will do…
- Manage day-to-day finance operations: billing, expenses, accounts receivable/payable, reconciliations.
- Act as a point of contact for employees and suppliers on finance queries.
- Maintain physical & online storage of financial information.
- Manage and monitor budgeting cycles, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Support cash flow management, forecasting, and financial planning to guide business decisions.
- Support with tax compliance, payroll, and other statutory requirements across Spain and Ireland, in collaboration with our accounting partners.
- Continuously improve finance workflows and processes through automation and best practices.
What you will bring…
- 4+ years of experience in finance administration, accounting, or controlling roles with high involvement with day to day operational tasks.
- Knowledge of Spanish accounting standards.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial tooling (i.e. Xero, Holded, Payhawk, Stripe Billing, etc.)
- Fluency in English and Spanish (Catalan will be considered a plus).
- Curiosity about AI applications in finance and process automation and optimization.
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, and ability to collaborate with both financial and non-financial colleagues.

Interview Process
Our interview process consists of three steps:
- Screening: 20–30 min conversation with Mili (Head of People) or André (CEO).
- Technical interview/s: 60–90 min with our Finance team, focused on real-life scenarios.
- Values fit: 45 min with our co-founders to understand your values and how you work.
