The Nurse (Nutrition) is a NATIONAL position. This position is located in Les Cayes. Please review the contract dates before applying.


ROLE PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Nutrition Coordinator (NC), the Nurse will work closely with the Pediatricians, Auxiliary Nurse, and Community Health Workers (CHWs). The Nurse is primarily responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the planning and implementation of the Nutrition Program. They will participate in a community-based nutrition program, conducting field activities five days per week. The role includes assessing, screening, treating, and monitoring children and caregivers, delivering nutrition education and awareness sessions, and supporting preventive interventions. He/She will work closely with the Hope for Haiti team, medical partners, beneficiary schools, community health workers and community leadership to ensure Hope for Haiti’s Nutrition Program is functioning efficiently and effectively and to promote healthy practices within the target population.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Assist the NC with planning, budgeting and implementing public health activities, primarily related to the Nutrition Program
  • Assess and manage malnutrition cases (screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up)
  • Oversee auxiliary nurses and CHWs works, and educate caregivers/families on nutrition and related health issues
  • This position is field-based, requiring daily travel to program sites, including schools, clinics, and community households, to implement and monitor nutrition activities.
  • Work diligently with the beneficiaries of the nutrition and public health programs to make sure the activities can take place
  • Work with the NC to determine the supplies and materials needed for the Nutrition Program
  • Work with Operations and Public Health teams to procure the supplies/materials in a timely manner
  • Involve the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) by informing them of public health activities and data
  • Evaluate nutrition and public health programs through Monitoring and Evaluation and reporting KPIs

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and Nursing License required
  • Advanced skills in Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Tools and Internet
  • Experience in nutrition, community health, and public health
  • Ability to conduct field assessments, monitor growth, and provide basic treatment for malnutrition
  • Knowledge in project Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Good written and reporting skills
  • Ability to write and speak in French and Haitian Creole, English preferred
  • Passion and enthusiasm for non-profit work
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and joyful demeanor
  • Ability to work and establish good relationships with co-workers, partners, and non-partners
  • Ability to walk distances of over 10 kilometers at varying elevations and to lift 30 pounds over shoulders.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

National candidates only. Benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, maternity and parental leave. This is a full-time/remote position based in Les Cayes. This position is NOT accompanied, and the organization provides no relocation, logistics, or housing packages.
