Job Description
AECOM Spain Building Engineering team is a highly qualified group of professionals, experts in offering the best solutions to international client’s needs all around the world.
Our building services engineers are at the forefront of their discipline for the design of the mechanical, electrical, public health, fire suppression and telecom systems required for the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly operation of buildings. We embrace world class methodologies and technologies, including information rich Building Information Modelling (BIM), energy modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to facilitate more efficient ways of working and design at all stages of the project life-cycle.
Our team, as part of the continued growth of our business, is looking to hire an inspirational Project Director & Design Manager to work closely with clients and deliver upstanding construction projects.
For a successful performance in the role, you will need a strong technical knowledge in MEP engineering and previous experience of delivering large projects from concept design all the way to construction stage.

Based in Madrid, this role offers a hybrid setup with 2–3 days a week in the office, depending on project and team requirements. We also offer flexible working hours to support your work-life balance
Job Responsibilities:
- To lead a team of MEP engineers, technical specialists to support the technical delivery of large building and infrastructure projects
- To actively participate in the development of the delivery team and ensure AECOM delivers the quality required to ensure a successful outcome for AECOM and our Clients.
- Be competent to deliver, review and approve engineering solutions
- Provide the key liaison required between client and the AECOM and maintains client relationships
- Ensure successful achievement of project mission statement and goals and be responsible for all day-to-day activities.
- To ensure a successful completion of the Project within the budget and on time.
- To schedule and plan all project activities in line with Master Program in co-ordination with the Planning Engineer. Planning and scheduling of resources
- To identify change and where required liaise/support the project Commercial Manager with supporting technical justification for the change.
- To grow Client and Architect relationships to support the continued growth of the business.
- To maintain and enhance expertise within the team and as an individual.
Qualifications
Degree educated in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering discipline.
- Experience of seeing conceptual designs through to completion and dealing directly with clients.
- A highly motivated individual with excellent technical understanding of electrical engineering along with a solid understanding of the requirements of other disciplines collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects.
- A track record of successful collaboration with design teams nationally and internationally.
- Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently, communicating effectively in written reports and oral presentations.
- Management and marketing skills
- Construction experienced will be a plus
- Relevant experience in Building Services design. .
- Able to make decisions, act on their own initiative and operate in a pro-active way.
