Creating new games is part of Rovio’s DNA, and we are now looking for a Senior Technical Artist to join one of our prototyping teams working on a new action title. In this role, you will provide art and technical art support needed to bring the new projects to life in close collaboration with game designers, artists, and developers.
You will develop, maintain and support tools that streamline workflows for artists and production teams as we are in the early stages. You are known to be a great problem solver and your work will directly impact gameplay and player experience of our games.
The team is primarily based in our Izmir studio, with expansion planned in Barcelona. If you’re in Türkiye but not yet in Izmir, we can support relocation—and if you’re in Spain, we can provide work permit sponsorship. However, we’re currently not offering relocation to Spain.
You will have impact and fun at work by:
- Creating and prototyping art assets in Unity and Spine, demonstrating both strong technical execution and an eye for style and quality
- Defining and implementing art pipelines and tool stacks that streamline asset creation and integration, ensuring efficiency from concept through live operations
- Developing and optimizing workflows for the art team, balancing visual quality with performance, memory efficiency, and production scalability
- Investigating, testing, and documenting new tools and techniques, training and supporting the art team in adopting best practices
- Writing and maintaining scripts/tools (in C#, C++, Python or similar) that improve efficiency, automate processes, and enhance the creative workflow
- Establishing content creation guidelines that maintain consistency, technical feasibility, and high-quality standards across all art assets
- Participating in the ideation process for new game concepts alongside your team
Experience and skills we are looking for:
- Solid experience in the gaming industry, with a portion of that in a technical art role on a Unity project
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as C# or Python to create tools and solve technical challenges
- A portfolio of past project examples that demonstrate a strong eye for style and quality
- Solid understanding of the latest technologies and trends to effectively manage the art pipeline
- Proficiency with Unity, 3D workflows (Blender, 3ds Max, or Maya), and 2D tools (Photoshop and Illustrator) for creating and implementing game assets
- Experience with Spine, shaders, creating VFX, rigging, and prototype-level animations
- Proficiency in bitmap and vector workflows, e.g., Photoshop and Illustrator
- Openness to feedback and love for working in a fast-paced, constantly iterating environment
