Gantrex is the global market leader in production, distribution, installation and maintenance of high quality crane rail solutions. Gantrex’ products are used in many different applications and end-markets including ports, shipyards, steel mills, aluminium smelters, railway depots and heavy industries.
We want you to join our team in Madrid.
Main objectives:
- Evaluation of existing crane structures and support systems for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Structure assessment based on condition.
- Understanding of crane dynamic behaviour and its impact on the crane and supporting structure.
- Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.
- Development of engineering solutions to enhance the performance and lifespan of crane systems.
- Preparation of technical documentation and reports.
Duties:
- Perform structural calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) for crane structures and their supporting systems.
- Design steel structures and verify their compliance with applicable engineering standards (EN, ASTM, AISC, FEM, etc.).
- Conduct site inspections to assess structural conditions and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and commercial teams to develop tailored solutions for clients.
- Support installation teams and inspectors with structural guidelines and engineering advice.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Contribute to research and development efforts for improving crane and rail solutions.
- When required, support the Mechanical Design team to create 3D models and detailed drawings of mechanical parts, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards. Also, analyze 3D scanning data. Training will be provided by Gantrex. This function is expected to account for <20% of the yearly workload.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Ongoing professional development and familiarity with industry trends.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably in crane or heavy machinery structures.
- Knowledge of international design codes and industry standards, especially with EN 13001 and/or FEM 1.001 is a plus.
- Experience within the crane or heavy machinery industry would be a strong advantage but not mandatory.
Competences:
- Strong background in structural analysis and design.
- Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of fatigue applied to structures.
- Experience in NDT structural inspections is a plus.
- Understanding crane dynamic behavior is a plus.
- Fluent in English (part of the interview process will be in English).
- Advanced knowledge of ANSYS or similar for FEM analysis.
- Experience with CAD software required.
- Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Familiar with all packages of MS Office.
