Within Sanofi, the Procurement function is a powerhouse maximizing savings to fund the company’s future growth. The Chief Procurement Officer is reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, member of the Sanofi executive committee. The Procurement organization is divided into five Domains (Manufacturing & Supply, Marketing & Sales, Professional Services, Scientific & Medical and Digital) leveraging Global Procurement Operations and the Procurement Center of Excellence & Transformation. The yearly spend coverage is around 15B€ with a special focus on Procurement excellence, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability. Closely collaborating with Finance, Business Operations and Business Units, Procurement is instrumental in achieving cost efficiency and savings. Procurement plays a critical role in optimizing Business Operational Impact with a focus on driving simplification, efficiency, and productivity. It forges strategic partnerships with suppliers, prioritizing innovation and data driven solutions.

As ‘Category Buyer, Supply Chain Inbound in Manufacturing & Supply domain, you will be responsible for implementing sourcing strategies according to category management strategies and leading sourcing in global scope, - and across all business units.
This includes activities such as, but not limited to, designing and executing strategy of all inbound to manufacturing logistics flows and cover all modes of transportation (road, sea, air, centralized distribution). Creating, supporting and driving strategy of inbound logistics category, including the optimization of logistics network, - alignment with material suppliers and implementing logistics sourcing strategy. Key value levers are optimized inventory, resilience, CO2 reduction, optimized material price (through negotiations), reduced logistics cost and central visibility on flows.
Main responsibilities:
Build and implement full sourcing strategy for category
Deliver world class cost savings, inventory optimization and additional benefits (resilience, CO2 reduction, simplification)
Ensure consistency, communication and integration within the business and the procurement network
Run robust Supplier Management with business reviews & performance management Ensure mastery of Procurement technical excellence (TCO, SRM, Market Intel, Risk Management, Innovation, CSR, HSE, compliance, quality)
Ensures the implementation and operational follow-up of action plans derived from the strategies defined by the Category Management and/or Procurement Business Partners, in close collaboration with the procurement network and stakeholders
Reports on status, savings, performance, and risks on the sourcing activities he/she oversees
Stays informed on current industry trends and new market developments related to his/her category area
Creates visibility by mapping all flows. If business case led to flow and/or incoterm changes, aligns with key supplier and buyers
Undertakes benchmarking against other industries and best practices
Stakeholder Management
Takes leading role in cross-functional matrix structure with key business partners to design and implement best logistic model
Support Global Category Managers and Category Buyers, provides advice and/or participates to their strategic negotiations according to needs
Align strategy with internal and external stakeholders, ensures execution of project initiatives
Develops strong partnerships with his/her key internal customers and foster two-way supportive relationships with them
About you
Experience:
10 Years of relevant Procurement / Supply Chain / Project management experience
Soft Skills/ Technical skills:
The position requires sourcing professional skills with a strong ability to develop relationships within and across the different lines of business and throughout the Procurement organization, including transversal / project management skills as well as management skills in a multi-cultural environment.
Profile:
Excellent project management skills, ability to lead large, cross-functional project teams
Ability to influence key stakeholders in a complex matrix organization without formal authority
