The Senior Administration & Accounting Officer plays a key leadership role in overseeing the financial and administrative backbone of the organization. Based in Spain, this position is responsible for ensuring that all accounting, tax, and administrative operations run smoothly, accurately, and in full compliance with local financial regulations, including VAT filings and statutory reporting.
The ideal candidate is an accounting professional with knowledge of accounting standards EU VAT legislation, and a strong background in administrative processes. This role combines hands-on financial responsibility with coordination, making it essential to have both technical expertise and leadership.
It is mandatory to have at least 5 years of experience ideally in an audit firm, or in alternative in an accounting department of a multinational in a leader role.
Tasks will involve, but not be limited to:
- Oversee all financial accounting activities in accordance with Spanish GAAP (PGC) and corporate policies.
- Lead the preparation and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual VAT declarations (Modelo 303, 349, etc.), and other statutory filings.
- Ensure compliance with local tax, and financial regulations, liaising with external advisors when required
- Prepare and maintain financial records and reports in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Record daily financial transactions and complete the posting process.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable.
- Prepare journal entries, asset register updates, and depreciation schedules.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure administrative support aligns with organizational needs.
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and executive communications.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to increase operational efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement.
What you will bring along the way:

Must-have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting roles (audit firm, accounting dept of a company with multinational operations…), with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- Proven experience working with Spanish tax forms and platforms (e.g., AEAT, SII reporting, etc.).
- Strong understanding of accounting rules
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., A3, SAGE, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, changing environment.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ERP or administrative software
- Any additional EU language is a plus.

Kindly note that this is a permanent and full-time position, and it is based in Barcelona.
Possibility to work from home 2 days a week.
