About the role:
As a Trainee in Accounting, you work within the Accounting and Financial Reporting team of our Product Delivery department, gaining hands-on experience while supporting prestigious clients in the alternative investment fund industry. Your responsibilities encompass a variety of essential accounting tasks, providing a solid foundation for your career development. You assist in managing accounts payable, participate in fund accounting reconciliations, and contribute to the preparation of financial statements, all while ensuring compliance with regulatory filings.
This position is based in Spain, and reports to our Manager in Accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily bookkeeping for fund and non-fund entities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactions based on standardised processes.
- Reconcile bank statements (almost in real-time) for funds and related entities, prioritising key transactions.
- Process and review vendor invoices, ensuring accurate classification and compliance with internal guidelines.
- Assist in preparing NAV packages, Capital Account Statements (CAS), and Quarterly Reports (QR) using the fundcraft platform, ensuring accuracy and compliance with fund standards.
- Provide documentation and support for audits, ensuring compliance with Limited Partnership Agreements (LPA) and internal policies.
- Organise and maintain financial records in the fundcraft platform, extract and review accounting data, and support team members in delivering high-quality accounting outputs.
Requirements
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- General familiarity with digital tools or platforms.
- Knowledge of or interest in accounting software, ERP systems, or platforms like Odoo is a plus.
- Comfortable working in a paperless, cloud-based environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in data handling.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, especially in a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment.
- Proactive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
- Availability to work from our office in Spain.
