The undergraduate programme currently offers two specialisations, Actuarial Science (ACS) and Risk Analytics (RA). Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or preferably a PhD in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, applied mathematics, actuarial science, quantitative finance, data science, computer science, or a closely related field.
- Relevant professional qualifications and/or substantial industry experience in a business-related context are highly desirable.
- Proven ability and/or strong passion for teaching and mentoring students in a university setting.
- Strong interest in curriculum development, student engagement, and educational innovation.
- Versatility to teach across multiple quantitative topics and undergraduate and graduate levels.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver engaging and effective instruction in applied mathematics, quantitative methods, and related areas, with an emphasis on real- world business applications. In particular, the successful candidate will design and teach applied business mathematics courses for business students. In addition to teaching a range of quantitative and analytical courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, the candidate will actively contribute to curriculum development; design of teaching materials that incorporate practical relevance and technology-enabled learning tools; academic advising; supervision of student projects; and mentoring students to support their academic and professional growth. The candidate will contribute to course administration and pedagogical innovation and participate in school-level service activities. Collaboration with colleagues and industry partners to enhance student learning experiences and bridge academic concepts with professional practice is also expected. Lecturers/Senior Lecturers are expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, and to contribute to practice-based research and the continuous improvement of teaching through innovation and industry engagement.
