To support our continuous growth and reinforce our [[Health and Safety]] team we are looking for a [[Health and Safety Officer]].

Ontex Spain wish to appoint a Health & Safety Officer based in our facility at Segovia. Reporting to the HS&E Manager and working as part of a wider group team of H&S professionals, the candidate will have site responsibility for the Spain sites.

  • Hard working with an attention to detail to ensure that SOPs are being observed and demanding the highest standards of H&S.

A good working knowledge of all relevant H&S Spanish legislation and keeping up to date with all developments in our industry.

A Qualification in Health & Safety Master is required.

  • Experience within manufacturing environments is a must.
  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office.
  • Excellent communication skills and professional demeanour.
  • Hardworking and flexible with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative in a busy, results-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensuring that the Safety Policy is implemented throughout the plant.

  • Responsible for being up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry;
  • Ensuring that management is advised on and understands all matters relating to the Safety of personnel, such as safe working practices, equipment and Safety training.
  • Carrying out risk assessments, assessing workplace hazards, considering how risks could be reduced, formulating preventative measures including safe working procedures/safe systems of work and monitoring conformance.
  • Carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Making changes to working practices that are safe and comply with legislation;
  • Preparing health and safety strategies and developing internal policy for their site
  • Assisting as required with insurers’ audits and enquiries.
  • Leading site in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks; and maintaining records of same.
  • Control of all onsite training and assist the training officer .
  • Organizing and controlling regular random safety inspection audits of all areas, recording the results, producing reports that suggest improvements; and submitting them to Plant Management.
  • Investigating and recording any incident, accident or dangerous occurrences.
  • Ensuring emergency response procedures are maintained and updated as required.
  • Ensuring the safe installation of equipment;
  • Advising on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
