VHIR offers a position for a Lab Technician within the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group to participate in the project “Hemopexin: a new player in microvascular complications of diabetes” (PI22/01670. Instituto de Salud Carlos III).
Education and qualifications:
Required:
- Laboratory Technician or higher
- Certificate for handling animals for research use
- Good level of English
Required:
- Experience in retinal diseases
- Experience in animal experimentation, retinal explants and cell cultures.
- Experience in molecular biology techniques (histology, WB, immunofluorescence…).
Main responsibilities and duties:
- The laboratory technician will provide support for the following tasks:
- Attending to the animals by making sure of their care and welfare.
- Treatment (eye drops/twice at day) administration.
- Processing and conservation of the retinas
- Helping in the laboratory tasks (i.e. retinal explants, cell cultures, PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot analyses).
- Support in lab organization.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: immediate.
- Gross annual salary: 24.000 (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale)
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
