Junior Legal Counsel

Ebury Madrid Office - Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home per week

The Legal Department at Ebury is core to the functioning of the Ebury Group. It provides front-line advice to all parts of the Ebury Group on legal, regulatory and governance matters which contribute to Ebury's growth every day.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Junior Legal Counsel who is keen to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and growing company which is focused on building the Ebury brand.

The successful candidate will join our in-house legal team and support our core legal team in various finance, corporate, and commercial legal matters. The core legal team provides legal advice to key stakeholders and is pivotal to Ebury's development on a global scale. The person who fills this role will report to the relevant Legal Counsel.

The ideal candidate will have a degree and masters in law (fully qualified lawyer) and have excellent communication, research, and organisational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the core legal team with the review of internal and client queries and providing advice to relevant stakeholders on legal matters related to the ordinary course of business.
  • Drafting and reviewing business-as-usual legal documents, including non-disclosure agreements, engagement letters and other routine third party services agreements.
  • Drafting and reviewing ancillary account security documents and communicating with relevant other Ebury teams on documents relating to account security, and on general finance and commercial agreements.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents to support Ebury's corporate governance, business and operational activity.
  • Assisting the core legal team with preparing, negotiating and reviewing finance and commercial agreements.
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of new products and the expansion of the business into new markets.
  • Researching legal and regulatory developments.
  • Preparing template documents, procedures, playbooks and training materials.
  • Monitoring the implementation of the legal procedures.
  • Arranging signing of legal documents, and assisting with the management of our internal powers of attorneys.
  • Maintenance and organisation of the legal drive and contract repository.
  • Keeping record of related legal invoices and budget spreadsheets.

Key skills requirements include:

  • Complete fluency in English (C1 or C2).
  • Degree and Masters in law and fully qualified lawyer.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • A proactive team player who works well with different personality types.
