IRB Barcelona is seeking an enthusiastic Research Assistant to join the cutting edge research lines of the Targeted protein degradation and drug discovery research group led by Cristina Mayor-Ruiz.
This position is cofinanced by the project Translational Research and Innovation Programme Clínics (TRIP Clínics) financed by el Departament de Salut de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
Key responsibilities
- General lab management and lab organization
- Cell culture (maintenance, cellular viability assays)
- Functional genomics (CRISPR/Cas9 screens, luciferase and fluorescence-based reporters, etc)
- Molecular biology techniques (PCRs, immunoblots, cloning, IPs, etc)
- Drug screens, proteomics, flow cytometry
- Technology development
- Training of new lab members
You have
- Experience: Prior wet-lab experience.
- Knowledge: CRISPR/Cas9 and functional genomics background.
- Skills: good organizational skills are a must, molecular biology skills are highly appreciated.
- Interpersonal and effective communication skills
- Inclined to team work and support and collaborative roles
- Motivated and proactive attitude
- Fluency in English
You might also have
- Experience: previous experience and contact with genetic and drug screens.
- Knowledge: targeted protein degradation and/or chemical biology background.
- Skills: bioinformatics notions and chemistry skills are a big advantage.

Created in 2005 by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Government of Catalonia) and the University of Barcelona, IRB Barcelona, a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence since the first call in 2011, has received the accreditation four consecutive times.
