- System design and implementation: Develop, design and implement automated technologies for the intra-logistics processes, including conveyor systems, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), Automated storing and retrievable systems (ASRS) and other robotic solutions, to enhance material handling efficiency.
- Warehouse layout and design: Optimize warehouse layout for an efficient space utilization, material flow and accessibility. Collaborate with the construction and facility teams for layout definition or modifications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process, installation, maintenance and facility to ensure effective communication and coordination during the installation and commissioning of logistics equipment.
- Safety compliance: Ensure that all logistics activities comply with health and safety regulations. Implement safety measures to protect both personnel and assets.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate documentation of intra-logistics processes, system configurations, and improvements made for reference and future analysis.
- Operational instructions: Create clear and concise documentation of processes and procedures.
- Regular alignment with the Headquarters in Salzgitter and cell plants (e.g. Salzgitter, Dalian, St. Thomas (Canada), etc.)
- Coordination and working together with different department like HSE, HR, finance, purchasing, construction, manufacturing, quality, logistic, technic areas, legal from the requirement site as well for permission or legal requirement or contractual points.
During serial production:
- Process optimization: analyze existing logistics processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements to streamline workflows, reduce lead times and enhance overall operational efficiency.
- Technology integration: Stay updated on emerging logistic technologies and integrate relevant solutions to improve accuracy, speed, and visibility in material handling. Regular meetings with suppliers and headquarters to understand market trends and opportunities.
- Training and development: Train logistics staff on new processes, technologies, safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Data analysis: Utilize data analytics to identify trends, assess performance metrics, and make the corresponding decisions to improve logistics processes. Prepare and present reports to Management.
- Continuous improvement: Proactively and independently seek opportunities for continuous improvement in the logistics operations, implementing changes to adapt to evolving business needs.
- Regular contact with Plant Management, Headquarters, customers, suppliers and other production plants from the group
- Collaborate on the optimization projects from conceptual idea to final implementation involving responsibility over project CAPEX and OPEX.
- 5 Years of experience in logistics
- Bachelor degree (Industrial Engineering, Logistics or similar qualification)
- Proven experience with warehouse management software and logistics planning tools.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Lean thinking to identify improvement areas, optimize supply chain processes and reduce costs.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactively anticipating and mitigating potential risks associated with logistic projects.
- Awareness and compliance on health and safety regulations in the logistics operations.
- Demostrated experience in steering challenging projects within the automotive industry with technologies such as ASRS, AGVs, cobots and conveyors Proficient use of standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
Nice to have:
- Fluent German is a plus
- Experience on battery production or cells manufacturing
- Desirable to have previous experience in industrial programming or similar field
