Performance Lab Lead

We are building a Competition & Performance Testing Lab to drive company-wide performance benchmarks across our product portfolio. We are looking for a Performance Lab Lead who will own the design, execution, and continuous improvement of our benchmarking processes. In this role, you will measure Virtuozzo’s performance against top infrastructure platforms, identify opportunities to outperform them, and provide the data and insights that drive our product strategy. You will have the freedom to explore new tools, testing methods, and workloads that mirror real customer environments.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve company-wide performance benchmarks for Virtuozzo products.
- Design and run side-by-side benchmarks against leading infrastructure platforms (e.g., Nutanix, VMware vSphere, Red Hat OpenShift, CEPH).
- Lead evaluations covering:
- Compute, storage, and network performance under realistic production-like workloads.
- Reliability and resilience metrics, including failover, uptime, and recovery under fault conditions.
- Cost efficiency and operational performance in service provider environments.
- Define high-impact test scenarios and datasets relevant to real-world customer and provider use cases.
- Build and maintain reliable, repeatable test environments to ensure consistent results.
- Research and adopt best-practice benchmarking tools, techniques, and methodologies used by leading vendors.
- Partner with universities and research institutions to innovate in performance testing approaches.
- Present results through clear, data-driven reports and dashboards to inform product and engineering decisions.
What You Bring
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in performance benchmarking for infrastructure platforms.
- Background in competitive analysis, QA, or SRE roles with a strong performance focus.
- Practical experience with virtualization, storage, and networking technologies.
- Familiarity with performance benchmarking and load-testing tools and methodologies.
- Knowledge of cloud or hyperconverged infrastructure solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex system behaviors.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Python, Ansible, Bash).
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and technical presentations.
