Job description

Nippon Gases is one of the leading companies in the industrial and medical gases business in Europe. The Senior European Controller will be located in the European headquarters, Madrid, with a direct report to the European CFO, also located in Madrid.

The European Holding of Nippon Gases Europe monitors the development of the different European regions. To support our projected growth in the coming years, our Finance team is looking for an experienced Controller to join the team and help monitor our European regions.
We’re looking for an exceptional individual with extensive experience. The Senior European Controller will show excellent critical thinking skills, including the ability to quickly assimilate new information, identify patterns, make sound decisions and develop creative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor closing activities, including the analysis of the development of the business.
  • Support the organization with Accounting and Tax analysis and assessments.
  • Promotion and development of the Consolidation tool (FCCS).
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors
  • Support strategic initiatives such as M&A, system implementations, and process improvements.

Job requirements

Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish. Other languages are a plus.
  • More than15 years of experience of which, at least 6 of themauditing in Big four.
  • Experience with FCCS/PBCS or Hyperion (HFM).
  • Occasional travelling may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master or MBA.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA /ACCA or ACA) .
  • Prior industry experience.

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Experienced Excel user – our objective is to automate in FCCS/PBCS and reduce manual work.
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to quickly assimilate new information, recognize patterns, and make sound, data-driven decisions.
  • Capable of developing innovative solutions that support and adapt to the company’s projected growth and evolving business needs.
  • Positive attitude, desire to learn, self-motivated and effective team player.
  • Ability to work independently and be flexible.
